Pregnancy
- No lumbar testing: cervical with Dr. orders from PDR doctor.
- Limit ROM 0-60 degrees (lumbar) during the 1 st trimester
- Limit ROM after that per size, or 0-36 degrees
- Allow 5 minute warm-up prior to Medx
- Heart rate not to exceed 140 bpm
- Suggest increased fluid intake during rehab session
- Proceed with caution with home exercises in supine
Post-Partum Guidelines:
- No lumbar MedX testing, rehab (or any strenuous exercise) for 6 weeks
- May initiate lumbar MedX rehab at 6 weeks post-partum with clearance from OB/Gyn
- No lumbar MedX testing for 3 months
- May perform lumbar baseline testing at 3 months if no complications
- May initiate cervical MedX rehab sooner than 6 weeks (per PDR physician), and testing at 6 weeks post-partum
- Training in proper body mechanics related to crib, car seat and bathtub transfers; and infant lifting techniques
Post C-Section Guidelines:
- No lumbar MedX rehab for 6 weeks - 3 months (per OB/Gyn)
- No lumbar MedX testing for 6 months
- May perform lumbar baseline testing at 6 months post C-section if no complications
- May initiate cervical MedX rehab at 6 weeks (per PDR physician), and testing at 3 months post C-section
- Training in proper body mechanics related to crib, car seat and bathtub transfers; and infant lifting techniques
